Who’s eligible?

As per the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, an Arkansas resident with a disability as certified by his/her licensed medical professional can apply for a disability parking permit plate/placard.

How to obtain a permit

The applicant must complete form 10-336, signed by his/her physician. The form can be obtained at the state’s Department of Finance and Administration. The form must be submitted to the state revenue office at the special license unit, along with the applicant’s Social Security number and driver’s license or state identification.

Fee

There is no fee for placards.

Validity/expiration of placards/permits

Permanent placards for the permanently disabled expire 2 years from the last day of the month in which they’re issued. Special permanent placards for the permanently disabled expired 2 years  from the last day of the month in which they’re issued. For more information, call (501) 682-7060.

Temporary placards are valid for 3 months from the last day of the month it which they’re issued. A person certified as temporarily disabled may receive no more than two (2) temporary placards, which must have the same expiration date. Under no circumstances can a person certified with a temporary disability receive a permanent placard.

Renewing your permit/placard

Permanent placards must be renewed at the revenue office. Recertification is not required.

Temporary placards may not be reissued or renewed. If an applicant moves out of Arkansas, he/she must surrender the permit to the Arkansas Office of Motor Vehicles.

Lost placard/replacement

A lost permanent disability parking permit can be replaced. However, the expiration date on the replaced placard will reflect the date as issued on the original placard.

Where to hang the placard/permit

The placard must be displayed on the rearview mirror when the vehicle is stationary but removed when the vehicle is in motion.
